Belltown Throwdown

Sun June 7, 2020

STAGE 1 Cycling Club and AirLine Cycles are bringing mountain bike racing to East Hampton. The Belltown Throwdown is back for year three.

Throwdown course will be even greater and more perfecter (that’s a word, right?)! Our challenging course from last year will return with more single track, bigger berms, more jumps and drops, and some very fun tweaks and modifications that are sure to tickle your fancy (tee-hee). This loop contains multitudes: about 3.6 miles of single track, double track, some fire road, tight twists, screaming drops (remember the “Gravity Cavity”?), more than a few hand-built berms, rollers, and yes, some serious climbs (about 420′ per lap). You can check out the specs on the full laps for Cat Pro, 1, 2, and 3 adults here: https://www.strava.com/segments/20776589.

Junior Cat 3s and adult and junior First Time racers will use an abbreviated 1.7 mile loop with about 200′ of climbing. It will include all the great features, minus some of the tougher technical portions of the course, and BONUS, they’ll get to do a few more laps of the funnest XC descent in all of CT! You can check out the shorter loop here: https://www.strava.com/segments/20776634.

Every Thursday Night Gravel Ride

6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Thursday Night Gravel Rides will be a weekly event, weather permitting. We will typically have a single group of about 12 miles. You’ll be happiest on a gravel or cross bike, but could do it on a road bike with wider tires or mountain bike. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the shop. As always, beverages after the ride. Please be self-sufficient with spare tubes, pump, basic knowledge. Shop ambassadors will do their best to keep everyone together and rolling, but some things are outside of our control.

Thursday Night Mountain Bike Ride

Jan 30 @ 6:15 pm – 9:15 pm

Rides alternate between leaving from AirLine Cycles and Hurd State Park. Demo headlights are usually available – please call ahead to reserve a set. Check Facebook or call the shop for ride details!

We typically split into two groups, fast and good-looking. The fast group is a race-pace type group for the extra fit folks. The good-looking group is slightly slower, more social, and definitely more attractive.
