So what does this bike boom/supply chain disruption mean to bike shops? Well, as an example, here's a picture of what Giant has available for tubes right now: Keep in mind, Giant is the LARGEST bicycle company on the planet.
As far as bikes go, we'll have a shipment of Norco mid level hybrids and mountain bikes arriving in late August. I will post up as soon as they arrive, I promise. Giant bikes will be arriving in October sometime.
Our repair schedule has gotten back to normal, so if you need service, come on down, and we should be able to get the bikes back to you within a few days.
Thanks for your patience during these difficult times, and please understand, this bike shortage is WAY more frustrating for us than you could possibly imagine. ... See MoreSee Less
So I can sell some 24” schrader valve tubes for the same price people are charging for weights ???
Wow! Do you see the bicycle boom as strictly due to Covid and do you think it will return to normal or have people found a new love for biking?
you can steal the tubes out of the Norco bikes!
Patrick Liam stop getting flats. Tubes are in short supply.
....what's a tube? 🤪

It was another epic weekend for the AirLine Cycles family. I'm so proud to have these folks associated with the shop.
To start, the Stage 1 Enduro crew cleaned up at the Eastern States Cup this weekend, with the juniors strongly representing. It's not important whether we won or not because these kids have so much fun and display such incredible sportsmanship. (Spoiler alert: we won. Hudson, Jax, and Tristan swept the podium, with Declan and Cole close behind.) A pile of other Stage 1 racers were there as well, and I'm guessing more podium results will be posted soon.
In other news, remember that friend of the shop who went out and completed a half Ironman on his own because the official event had been canceled? Well this weekend, he was up in Lake Placid New York where the official Ironman race should have happened, were it not canceled due to COVID. You guessed it, he did it again, completing his first IronMan in a spectacular way. No cheering crowds, no support tents and feed stations along the route, no big fanfare, just one dude proving that having a positive outlook changes everything. He was swimming the 2.4 miles before sunrise, and finished his marathon run at almost midnight, with a 112 mile bike in the middle. Amazing work Dylan! #NoMoreBadDays #leftycycles ... Awesome job Dylan!! Great job to all the enduro guys!! You guys rocked it!!
Such an awesome group of badass people! Congratulations all around!
Congratulations all of you!!
Yeaaahhhhhh get it!!!!! Congrats everyone 👏 👏👏👏👏

Sorry kids, 99% chance of thunderstorms tonight, so no group rides tonight. Be safe out there! ... See MoreSee Less
Apparently the forecast has shifted considerably in the last half hour. Please make your own decision and have fun with whatever path you choose.
It’s Humid I went for a swim, I mean ride, 💦
Trail riders are being optimistic! Ride and ice cream 🍦!!!
Hey, it's Thursday, let's ride bikes!
Gravel ride leaves from the shop at 615. Fun social distanced pace.
Mountain bike ride leaves from Hurd Pavilion lot at 615. Lots of small groups, social distance, paces ranging from medium to sendy to fast, or choose your own adventure. If you get there early and see some friendly faces, feel free to get started... no need for me to give you the blessing, just grab a few friends and go get it!
Socially distant brief happy hour to follow at the shop parking lot... BYOB. We can't stay late and disturb the neighbors, so the 9PM curfew will be enforced. ... See MoreSee Less
Why yes, the shop is open today, 10-4. And yes, the new waterbottles did arrive - four colors of bottles, and thirteen cap colors, all proudly MADE IN THE USA!
We are still anxiously awaiting the shipment of new Norco bikes later this month. We have almost thirty used bikes in, ranging from $75 to $3750; we are pretty evenly split between adult mountain bikes, kids bikes, and adult road bikes. We are completely out of hybrid bikes at the moment, but plenty of new ones will be arriving at the end of the month.
Come on down and say hello... just don't ask Brian how his vacation was because he was at the shop every day trying to catch up, and he might be grumpy about it. 🙂 ... See MoreSee Less
Soooo proud to have your business in town! You do so much for the local biking community.
Oh goodness the boys are gonna want to get a new bottle
Dude I’ve offered a bunch of times to help you out with repairs!!!
28,561 color combos! Imagine the possibilities! 🇺🇸
Jeremy! You know I need an all green! 😍 Lezzgo!
Shop is closed today and tomorrow, reopening Saturday. Shop gravel ride tonight leaves from the shop at 615. We aren't officially hosting a shop mountain ride, but if you're at Hurd Pavilion at 615, I am pretty sure there will be a nice group of friendly folks with whom to ride. Be safe, stay hydrated, and be nice to each other out there. ... See MoreSee Less
Reminder, AirLine Cycles will be closed for a few days to recover after the craziest three months the bike shop industry (and the US) has ever seen. We'll be back to normal on Saturday.
If you were called about a completed repair but weren't able to pick it up last week and would like it back ASAP, please feel free to call and leave a message at the shop. We will be there intermittently this week and may be able to arrange pickup.
Thanks for your patience! ... See MoreSee Less
Let me know when you want be to drop off eggs 🙂
three important announcements:
1) AirLine Cycles will be closed July 4th through July 10th. It has been a very difficult couple months, and our hardworking crew deserves a few days off to recover. Please plan accordingly.
2) It is Thursday, so that means we ride! We will be in smaller groups and socially distant, but it is time to get out into the woods together again! Like last week, we will keeps to groups of about five.
Gravel ride on the AirLine Trail (mostly) will depart from the shop at 615PM. Mountain ride will depart from the Hurd Pavilion lot at 615PM.
Mountain riders take note: with many smaller groups, we will need folks to help with leading rides and assembling groups. If you see a bunch of folks you want to ride with, gather them up and go ride.
Mountain riders also take note: This is junior team rider @noahshredz clearing a 35' gap jump last weekend. We expect nothing less out of each and every one of you tonight. 🙂
3) the team store is now open! Get your blue and green on this summer with some great gear from Pactimo. teamstore.pactimo.com/stores/stage-1-airline-cycles/show?fbclid=IwAR108WbwLe__kSUqTMbqC9bHFsrkliU...

Two important announcements:
1) AirLine Cycles will be closed July 4th through July 10th. It has been a very difficult couple months, and our hardworking crew deserves a few days off to recover. Please plan accordingly.
2) Thursday night rides resume this week! We will be in smaller groups and socially distant, but it is time to get out into the woods together again!
Gravel ride on the AirLine Trail (mostly) will depart from the shop at 615PM. Mountain ride will depart from the Hurd Pavilion lot at 615PM. Happy hour to follow outside at the shop. Please feel free to bring a frosty beverage to share. Water and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. We will be outside where transmission of the 'VID is highly unlikely, but we still request masks and social distancing as practical during the social hour.
Mountain riders take note: with many smaller groups, we will need folks to help with leading rides and assembling groups. If you see a bunch of folks you want to ride with, gather them up and go ride. If you see someone new who might want to join you, invite them in. This is an opportunity to ride with others, not a guided tour customized with detailed rider metrics. If everyone waits for Brian to custom design groups, this situation is gong to get unfun in a hurry.

It's a beautiful day for some mountain bike racing! Thrilled to be hanging with the crew at Domnarski Farm in Ware, Massachusetts. Lots of great riding, social distancing, and a beautiful course!
We are off to a great start with a sweep of the U13 podium! Congratulations to Hudson, Noah, Jax, Jack, and James for some great racing today!
Thanks to Domnarski Farm for hosting a great event! ... See MoreSee Less
... And that's just the riders. I'm also super proud of the great support lent by the families and friends of these racers, doing all they can to support the racers lending tools to help others, sharing ice with injured riders, and just being great all around people. I'm proud to have each and every one of you wearing the blue and green and representing the shop. Thank you all!!
Such an amazing day all around... Podium time for three of the U13 kids, very strong rides for the Cote boys, podium time for Ben, a show of intestinal fortitude for junior Justin who broke a chain and RAN most of the ten mile course, a great race for junior Patrick who earned a podium spot, a win for Tommy Pro in the fatbike race, a very strong pro race for Top Jimmy, two podium spots for Nick and Brad, and last but not least, a third place finish for Brooks in the FIFTY MILE RACE.
Airline Cycles trophy case has bling for 2020 now!
1) The world is out of bikes. We'll have some models back in stock by late July, but others won't be available until October or later. This is the case in every bike shop nationwide. I'm sorry to say it, but calling ten shops in a row will not find you that inexpensive AirLine Trail bike.
2) Repairs are backed up. We are about two weeks out right now. That seems like forever, I know, but many local shops are a month out, and others in urban areas are 2-3 months out. We will try to prioritize your quick adjustment, but your sneaky plan of "while it is in the stand, could you just overhaul everything" will not work. We are on to you! 🙂
3) Shipping is massively overtaxed right now. Our one day delivery vendors are taking four or more days to deliver product, and others can't even ship for a week or more. This is causing further delays in repairs, unfortunately. The bike industry has gotten so complicated that keeping a full inventory in stock is just not possible anymore. Rear hubs alone are available in ten different widths... ordering parts for repairs is a necessary evil, and right now, that is a time intensive process.
4) Please be patient. The supply chain will recover, but it is going to take some time. Your repair will be done, but that is going to take some time as well.
5) I know it feels like the COVID threat is lifting, but nothing has really changed much. This is still a highly contagious illness, and you might have it even if you feel great. Please wear your mask in the store. We can talk outside in the fresh air mask free if you prefer, but inside, we need to stay safe.
Thank you! ... See MoreSee Less
You and Airline Cycles have been a lifesaver to many folks during this crazy time, but please don't forget to take care of yourself, sir. Working yourself to the bone puts pressure on the immune system !
also, if anyone wants a real workout, I have a 1970s steel Nishiki that weighs about 133 lbs. Just don't sue me if you have a heart attack trying to muscle that pig up a hill.

Thank you for letting me in to shop and selling me my Giant Stance May 5. It is a blast!
Brian is working 'round the clock. I see his van in the parking lot early in the morning til night fall. You're doing the best you can under the circumstances. Keep up the fine job you and your team are doing.

#5. So true.
So glad my hubby was able to secure a new bike for my 40th birthday from you! (Presented by my two troublemakers) Do you have helmets in stock? ⛑
I found a bike in the landfill, it shouldn’t cost more that ten dollars to completely overhaul it !
Great article on our buddy Dylan Howley in the Hartford Courant today, covering his recent solo half-Ironman! Congratulations Dylan!
Dylan is a Spin coach up at Empowered Fitness in Glastonbury, a certified personal trainer, and is starting a life coaching/motivational speaking company. This dude radiates positivity; if I could bottle it, I'd be a millionaire overnight.

We are so proud to have him as a member of our team! He's always pushing limits! LOVE THIS GUY!
Feeling mixed emotions today: tomorrow was supposed to be the third annual Belltown Throwdown mountain bike race here in East Hampton, which we unfortunately had to postpone due to the 'VID... sad to not be pulling an all-nighter tonight to get it ready...
...but in happier news, it looks like we can resume our Stage 1 junior team practices on June 23rd! I can't wait to ride with these kids again! Also, we have scheduled our 4th annual Super Happy Fun Ride event for July 5th! It's been a long few months, and it sure feels good to be looking forward to these events!
(And to be clear, the SHFR is not super, it is not happy, and it is not fun. What it is is a grueling 80 mile course which hits all the worst hills that this area has to offer. This ride has destroyed some of the strongest riders in the state, so be warned. for details, go to www.bikereg.com/airline-super-happy-fun-ride?fbclid=IwAR3g1zF358AdMUnNf7juJhcLu9_MaWVrXbuIcZLr9YF... ) ... We love this race!!
Bummed that your event got cancelled? Do it anyway!
AirLine buddy Dylan Howley was signed up to attempt his first half-IronMan this past weekend, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the 'VID. He's never been one to back down from a challenge, so he completed it on his own... that's a 1.2 mile swim, a mile bike, and a 13.1 mile run, on his own. ON HIS OWN! No support tents, no food stops, no cheering crowds.
When in doubt, be epic. Congratulations Dylan!

When I was first trying to open AirLine Cycles, I applied for a business loan, but I was denied. Maybe it was because I didn't have a business degree. Maybe it was because opening a bike shop in a small town was incredibly risky. Maybe it was because of my big dumb goatee. There were dozens of potential reasons that ran through my head, but not once did I ever wonder if I didn't get the loan because of my skin color.
To me, the phrase "white privilege" always meant trust funds, fancy cars, country clubs, and getting cushy jobs through family connections... But it's not that. It doesn't mean i didn't work my ass off... It just means that skin color wasn't one of the things that made life hard for me.
I hate the idea of posting this, for fear that I look like another soapbox poster, fighting for social justice safely behind a keyboard... but I learned something over the past few days, and maybe, just maybe, my explanation might help someone else think a little differently today. ... See MoreSee Less
My business story is similar to yours, minus the “big dumb goatee”. Never even thought about my skin color as a reason for any struggle in growing my business. It’s time to become aware and learn. Open our eyes and ears.
No one gave me a business loan right away either. Thank goodness I had a lot of friends who believed in me and was able to do much on credit with them and customers came to support me. It was very tough and very scary but I have never been this uncertain in my life. I knew I would always succeed because I was in charge of my own business but not so much now. Who is in charge now? And no I agree never ever did I think I didnt get it because of my race etc.
I’m glad you got on the soap box for a minute. That was a great explanation, worded in a way that everyone can understand.
I think we only have our personal perspectives to share and the more we do that with honesty and empathy, the further down the road we will get. Thanks for posting this, buddy. I miss seeing you. Keep being awesome in your little community!
THANK YOU!!! This is really important to share and continue to explain. I had this very conversation (again) with someone near and dear to me yesterday. And - I think I got through this time, with a very similar explanation. Love you Holdty.
Thank you for sharing your important message. I don't see it as "another soapbox poster" but authentic self awareness that might influence others to be more aware of their understanding of privilege.
Your a great guy Brian. Never be fearful of being great. 👍
Good post. I think we all need to go out on a limb a little more like you just did
This is exactly why a lot of people don't understand white privilege. I appreciate you writing this
Well said my friend!!
Thank you, Brian. Hope to stop in to the shop soon.
Me too, I understand why... Thanks Brian for posting this. I watched a great Trevor Noah episode that really made me see and understand white privilege.
More like bike wizard goatee.
OK, I agree. Here's just ONE of MY stories. I divorced a violent alcoholic and was raising two sons on my own. After he burned my house and I was back in it and putting it back together. I called a local appliance dealer and said. I want to buy a refrigerator. The date on the calendar said 1976. His immediate answer to me was. "What's your husband's name?" I said...without missing a beat. " I don't have one. Do I need one to buy a refrigerator?" That met with a pause...maybe a bit of consciousness raising. I bought the refrigerator! Well said and thank you for speaking out and sharing. I know I have been way to silent for way to long.

If I'm going to get to the shop 3.5 hours before opening, you better believe I'm getting breffast. Thanks again to Sweet Jean’s Cafe for this seriously epic breffast sammich.
I caught some flack for the empty test picture last week, so here's a better view. Note that the heaping portion of tater tots might have shrunken during the drive. Also note that Sweet Jean's is twelve piping hot tots north of the shop on North Main Street. And for the record, please note that I have started a movement that tater tots become an internationally recognized unit of measure.
Shop is open 10-4 today. If you have a bike shop brand mountain bike or hybrid that is not being used, bring it down and we'll give you cash or store credit. Thanks! ... See MoreSee Less
Oohhhh....I know what I’m having for breakfast now! Also, Julien’s brakes are acting sus, so we need to drop off his bike.
Thank you so much for riding your bike the 8 tots to Dexter's with such beautiful flowers for our reimagining day!😽
I had the spicy breakfast sandwich special this morning and it was amazing
One of my favorite things in the world is that at PlanB burger I can get tater tots tossed in truffle oil.
perhaps you should pay people in "tots" for used bikes!
Oooo...tater tots 🥰
....so..."All that & a bag of chips" is over and done? "Tough as Taters" it is!
I could do a century of tots...not even 😓
it looks good - enjoy the start to your day
Tater tots are no joke!! Yummmmm. Enjoy!
I love me a good breffest sammich!
So the packages I hoped to get last Friday and Tuesday were delivered today... fourteen in total. If you're waiting on parts, please understand that shipping delays are an unfortunate reality right now. We'll hopefully see the rest of our packages tomorrow, because the shelves are looking pretty bare in a few spots.
We continue to crank through repairs, and used bikes are selling as fast as they roll through the door. Busy times, folks... hope you're all getting in some good miles! ... See MoreSee Less
... And just for the record, I know the UPS drivers are working their asses off right now. My awesome driver and I compare notes each day to see who is working longer days, and it is always a toss up, and always in the 12-13 hour range for both of us. Every step of the process is longer and more complicated these days, and I really do appreciate the warehouse folks, the tractor trailer drivers, the sorters, and the drivers. It just frustrates me to not be able to get the products I need, which then delays the repairs. Gotta keep folks on two wheels!!
I want to apologize for my input and photo that i had added to this thread. Apparently it had been read and taken completely the wrong way. I was not making a joke nor was I bashing or shaming our UPS driver I was merely confused at why our package was late and the box quite damaged. I fully understand that they are extremely short staffed and overwork. We've never received a box so late and so damaged so I was just confused as to why but your thread here gave me some answers and insight. I was just posting adding my input as well as adding a photo of our package not to bash or shame the UPS or the driver. So I apologize if any others here read my input the wrong way. again it was never meant to be mean hearted ...i deleted my original input and photo
“Crank” through repairs! Lol
I'm waiting and waiting for pkgs.
I had the same issue..
Keep cranking brutha!
Ladies and gentlemen, please take a moment and inspect your rack. Make sure those straps are tight, hooks are secure, and that there are no signs of wear or failure. These bikes are incredibly strong and durable, but being run over by three cars is unfortunately not covered by the warranty.
Status update: we continue to crank through repairs as efficiently as possible. New and used bikes are pretty scarce at the moment; in the under $1000 category, we only have a few hybrids and mountain bikes left, mostly in the XS and small varieties. We are always looking for bike shop quality used bikes - trader them in for store credit, towards a different bike, or get cash in hand!
Store hours are the same as normal, but make and social distancing are appreciated when possible. ... See MoreSee Less
