You know what's scary? Global pandemic.
You know what's not scary? The new $10 AirLine Cycles t-shirts!

That's $10 out the door, tax included! It's all about the Hamiltons baby!

These shirts won't help you find toilet paper, avoid this rotten COVID19, or help you survive trapped in a house with those kids of yours, but they do look great, and they are $10. Brown or navy with hot pink ink, or black or pink with blue ink. Ten bucks!

Shop is open 10-4 on Saturday. Pull up to the curb, shout out your size and color, and we'll toss one your direction.

All repair pickup and drop off will be outside for the near future. Give a call on the phone, or yell at us from the door, and we'll come get your information. Please be patient, as the new process takes a bit of extra time.

We will get through this together!

Thanks to @T-Shirts Etc tseink.com/ in Glastonbury for the great service and awesome pricing. I could have saved $0.50 a shirt buying online, but instead I helped a family owned local business stay open. I urge you all to shop locally and support your friends and neighbors especially now in these difficult times!

Do you carry XXL in the navy with Blue lettering?

Darn. I guess I’ll have to add this one to the collection. πŸ˜‰ be down after the morning ride.

Hi, if you have a black with blue ink in a medium we’d love to pick one up as a gift😁

Those came out great! πŸ˜‰

Any kids sizes?

I love these! 😍

What time you open till?

If you really want to own the now ubiquitous curbside pickup... Two words: T-shirt cannon.

Did nick grab any?

Pink ink ya think ??? Well that’s cooler than the nink in my sink !!

Save a navy and hot pink lettering size small plz

The shop remains open, and the repairs keep rolling through! Six foot distancing in effect, and curbside phone transactions preferred. We are disinfecting and tuning and tuning and disinfecting all day every day!

Day 11 of the week-long AirLine Photo Scavenger Hunt: today is going to ROCK! I need to see a big pile of rocks, like an old foundation, or a giant interesting rock, or a big chunk of exposed bedrock. Split Rock at Hurd does not count!! If the rock can fit in your grandpa's pickup truck, it doesn't count, not big enough! Bonus points (free water bottle!) if you can find Zombie Rock at Hurd!

AirLine Cycles Photo Scavenger Hunt recap, and Day 10 of week 1:

So we had a wonderful week of great photos, and over two dozen kids posting pictures (plus countless others that I may have missed), and lots of prizes distributed! Congratulations to Charlie, Jack, Erica, Jax, Orson, Dolan, Hudson, James, Clayton, and Jack as the seven(ish) daily winners! Everyone else who played, come by the shop and grab a free water bottle!

For today's challenge, I need to see pictures of your bike on a bridge. There are many to choose from, so please find one without any vehicle traffic!!

Comment on Facebook

Darn! I took Tina McCurdy across the swing bridge today. Luckily traffic was very light! πŸ˜‚πŸš΄πŸΌ‍β™€οΈπŸ’œ

This was fun, thanks!

Friends - If you have been affected by layoffs, decreased hours, or other financial hardship due to this COVID19 situation, but need bike repair or would like to exercise safely with your family, please contact me at the shop or via email. I'm certainly in no position to be handing out piles of free bikes, but I have a few loaner bikes available, or can delay payment on repairs if needed to help you get out for some fresh air in these difficult days.

Be safe, be well, and please continue with the social distancing! This is still our best weapon in this battle. We need to stop the play dates, stop the big group rides, and continue to be very careful about the social distancing! There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but we are still a good distance away, and this is a trip best taken without hand-shakers and close talkers!

Day 8/9 of the week-long AirLine Trail Photo Hunt:
So apparently there is a mob of angry kids wondering why there isn't a day 8 of the week long picture hunt... so here goes kids: This is the Lyman viaduct on the AirLine Trail, back when the trains were running over great big bridges. Now, it is all filled in... but take a picture of your bike on either the Lyman or Rapallo viaduct part of the trail!
(Repeat today because this was posted late in the day yesterday...)

Instead of following the crowds, Clayton and I explored our secret mountain biking preserve. This photo might provide a hint as to where it’s located.

Emma took this picture while on our 3 mile walk

I just checked my Beatles album, there are definitely 8 days a week......

Lol...note to self, review Days of the Week and Counting during this period of home schooling...

I was wondering where this was. Figured it was done lol

So Brian you are aware they are home until September. πŸ˜‚

Greg Voelker: can you share this picture with the Gardeners (the other Eagle Scout candidate)?

Ya right... 😳

So the Governor called me last night and said "Brian, you are essential." He then went on to recite the whole "you complete me" scene from Jerry McGuire, which I thought was strange, but whatever. Anyway, AirLine Cycles is open for business normal hours all week.

With that said, SOCIAL DISTANCING IS THE KEY TO ENDING THIS CRISIS. Just because some stores are open doesn't mean it is time to go wander the aisles at Home Depot or go cruising the Big Y for fun. We need to limit human interaction outside of our homes as much as possible.

This is hard for me to write, because AirLine Cycles is nothing without the wonderful community of East Hampton and beyond, and without the amazing friends and customers that call this shop home. I want to be here to fix your flat tires, adjust your gears, and even set you up on a new or used bike to get you outside for some safe exercise... but if our business can be conducted over the phone, let's do so. We have combination locks on the rack out front. Call and tell us what you need done, and we'll tell you a lock number and the combination. We can even do that for test rides if you like! Purchases can also be phoned in, and we'll bring the goods out to your car.

I honestly can't wait for the days when we'll have a counter full of delicious Po's food, and a cooler full of FOC and we can stand around and shoot the breeze for hours... but right now is not that time. Be safe, be well, and get some fresh air. When you ride, please do so solo or with family, or if you must ride in groups, be spaced far apart! That six feet rule doesn't take into account huffing and puffing and traveling at high speeds right on each other's wheels!

Much love!
-Brian and the whole Stage 1 and AirLine Cycles family

AirLine Cycles School Kids Photo Hunt Challenge, Day 7!
Well, it's a pretty chilly day out there, and many kids might not be up for an outside ride. For today, here's a three part challenge: I'd love to see kids either riding a trainer inside OR bundle up and ride anywhere outside OR keep those biking muscles strong by building an indoor obstacle course (jump the pillows, tightrope the edge of the carpet, crawl under the table, etc.). Take a pic, post it up on Facebook, tagging AirLine Cycles. One kid per day wins a $15 gift certificate! Bonus points for the kids that do ALL THREE!

(If you are not in East Hampton, you can still play, but your training ride/outdoor ride/obstacle course must include bringing a jar of low sugar mixed berry jam from Scott's Yankee Farmer to the shop for Kate πŸ™‚ I'm looking at you, Schmitz crew!)

We got some great pictures yesterday... stay tuned for a Monday night recap post with all the great pictures, and the daily winners as well!

AirLine Cycles School Kids Photo Hunt Challenge, Day 6!
As you may have noticed, the AIrLine Trail has become quite crowded, as has Hurd Park... Today I would love it if everyone practiced some social distancing and explored another tremendous recreational asset in East Hampton, the Meshomasic State Forest. There are miles and miles of trails and wonderful gravel roads to explore across almost 8,000 acres!

Since we can't hug our friends right now, go for a bike ride, and take a picture hugging the biggest or bestest tree you can find. Post it up on Facebook, tagging AirLine Cycles. One kid per day wins a $15 gift certificate! Stay tuned for a new location each day! (Please be safe and smart, and do this as a family rather than as a big group!) (Also, don;t hug the trees with vines on them. They get enough viney hugs, and poison ivy to the face is more than we need right now.)

(If you are not in East Hampton, you can still play, but I will need to see you hugging a tree in any other state forest, with a sign in the picture so I know you're not in your front yard.)

AirLine Cycles School Kids Photo Hunt Challenge, Day 5!

Hey East Hampton parents: Saturday! Perfect day for an out of town adventure on the AirLine Trail. Take a picture of your young cyclist near the new end of the trail, near Camp Ingersoll in Portland, about 2.5 miles from the Depot Hill Road lot. Post it up on Facebook, tagging AirLine Cycles. One kid per day wins a $15 gift certificate! Stay tuned for a new location each day! (Please be safe and smart, and do this as a family rather than as a big group!) Bonus points if you can find both photo spots! If you are not in East Hampton, you can still play, but I will need to see an avocado in the picture.

Kudos to the young Savage on his 26 mile quest to complete the challenge yesterday!

(Okay, maybe the avocado thing is unreasonable, but your picture better make me laugh.)

Thanks to Anthony Vecca for the great pictures and the idea for today's challenge!

That's awesome, I just grabbed a road bike to help stay fit while the gyms are closed and I'm mostly laid off. It's insane how much faster it is than my Santa Cruz MTB.

Well he is on a Specialized so......

AirLine Cycles is here to help! Exercise in the fresh air is proven to boost the immune system, so we'll do all we can to keep folks out and about on two wheels.

If you need bike repair but would prefer to practice some social distancing, we will have combination locks on the bike rack outside. Just call or email us at the shop to let us know what you need done and we'll tell you a combination. Lock your bike to the rack whenever is convenient, then we will get the repair done, handle the payment over the phone or via PayPal or Venmo, and have the bike disinfected and tuned and waiting safely locked outside for your pickup.

We can also provide pick-up and drop-off services, $20 each way in EH, Marlborough. and Glastonbury. Other neighboring towns $25 each way. Schedule is subject to availability. Despite my best efforts, I can only be in one, maybe 1.5 places at once.

(and with all this said, we plan on cautiously continuing our normal business hours with all appropriate steps: lots of cleaning and handwashing, disinfecting all bikes at intake and before pickup, and we have discontinued all handshaking, high-fiving, and smooching for the time being.)

...and if you happen to need a bike, we can do the same thing with new bikes - I can leave a few options outside for you to test, or you can order right online at www.giant-bicycles.com/, www.liv-cycling.com/, or norco.com and the bikes will be shipped right here for professional assembly and tuning, and then we can leave it outside or deliver it to your door!

Great news!!!

Exercise, fresh air, and laughter are all good for strengthening your immune system, so tonight, turn off the media, stop stockpiling toilet paper, and get out for a bike ride!
- Group gravel ride on the AirLine Trail leaves from the shop at 6PM.
- Group mountain bike ride leaves from the Hurd outer lot at 615pm.
- And for those on the injured reserve, we've got a group walk tonight as well, 6PM departure from the shop, at a moderate but stroller friendly pace.

We will likely still need lights at the end of the ride despite daylight savings time, so please come prepared.
